Once upon a time, 60 Lakh Indians came together to find the most livable cities in India. And one song catalysed the transformation of public participation. This is the story of the song that added life to the campaign #YehMeraSheher
People's emotions are triggered by songs. A happy song can make you feel on top of the world, whereas a melancholic song can make you feel down. The thing about patriotic songs is that they immediately instill patriotism in the hearts of listeners. We wanted to use this potential of songs in the campaign to bring people together.
To get into the right track, we as always talked to people. There are certain things about cities that Google is not aware of. People live in the cities and the cities live in them.
Hyderabad - Biryani, Pearls, Char Minar, Laad Bazar
Lucknow - Kebabs, Elephants, Rumi Darwaza
Siligudi - Momos, Mountains, Natural beauty
Jabalpur - Bheda ghaat, Museums, Forts, Pani Puri
Indore - Poha-jalebi, Cleanliness
Many such answers helped us set the foundation of the song.
We produced the song titled Yeh Mera Shehere in collaboration with Manik Ahuja and it provided to be the backbone of the campaign.
