When we got our hands on this project, Bakelore was a brainchild waiting to be guided into the world.
We were summoned to design the brand identity, but we did something else. We designed the brand's soul.

    Which one is better?

    1. Reading this story alone.

    2. Reading this story with a hot cuppa, or

    3. Reading this story with your favorite choice of pastry and coffee while sitting in a premium cafe that takes you back in time and makes you experience your best moments once again

Even we like the third one, and guess what?

We designed the third one to give people a companion for the good days and the bad ones too. To make them cherish every moment a little more. To celebrate the ups and withstand the downs. To make them go back in time and live the best moments once again. To give them a premium bakery experience at affordable prices.

Let’s take a few steps back and start from the beginning. How did the name Bakelore come into existence?

The central idea while figuring out a name was nostalgia. The breakthrough in the process was the realisation that all of us share our nostalgia by narrating stories. We can always find ourselves talking about all the things that used to be a part of our lives while growing up, but now we hardly find them. This realisation led us in the direction of picking the right word and we stumbled upon 'lore'. It wasn’t very long before we arrived at the name Bakelore, which perfectly sits in a sweet spot between the two aspects of the brand: ‘bakery’ and ‘nostalgia.

This journey of designing the brand’s soul is as good as it gets, so just keep walking with us down memory lane as we take you through the part where Bakelore came alive with a visual identity that was fresh yet familiar.

While putting together a visual diary of what the brand should feel like, we kept coming back to a sense of nostalgia and an ambiance that makes people cherish the good old memories. After several rounds of ideation and iterations, we found inspiration in the joyful look on people's faces when they see a decadent cake.

To further carry the sense of nostalgia and familiar feel, we got inspired by the spaces and elements of the 90s. With a continuous focus on the central idea for the brand’s soul, Bakelore finally got the look and feel it needed to come out as a companion for the good days and the bad ones too.
